The Importance of Prostate Massage in Prostatitis Treatment

Prostatitis is a disease that mostly develops chronically and shows symptoms in various forms in the patient. Contrary to what is believed, it can be treated.

In chronic prostatitis the main problem is blockage of the tiny ducts inside the prostate gland. When these ducts are blocked, the fluids secreted by the prostate cells cannot flow into the urinary canal and accumulate inside the prostate. Over time these fluids fill with inflammation and begin to cause pain.

If the swelling created by the fluid in these ducts grows towards the urinary canal, the patient presents with a complaint of being unable to urinate. If the swelling spreads towards the bladder, the patient's complaint will instead be very frequent urination. Sometimes the swelling grows towards the sides of the prostate and compresses the vessels that bring blood to the penis; in these patients unexplained erectile dysfunction begins. These patients are usually young. Coldness in the penis and loss of sexual desire are also expected symptoms.

Spread of the prostate swelling towards the rectum creates the feeling of sitting on a ping-pong ball and makes the patient very uncomfortable. Some patients cannot even wear trousers and have to go around in tracksuit bottoms.

In the patient's treatment, prostate massage is as important as antibiotics, because prostate massage opens the blocked ducts in the prostate and expels the inflammation accumulated inside. Patients report dramatic relief after prostate massage.

In my clinical experience, prostate massage must be performed every day to eliminate the prostate swelling. Although patients feel pain during the first 2–3 days of massage, once the inflammation inside the prostate has drained the massage no longer causes pain. With regular prostate massage over an average of 6 to 10 days, 85% of patients experience clinical relief.
