How Is an Erectile Problem Treated? - Assoc. Prof. Muhsin Balaban, Urology and Andrology Specialist

How is an erectile problem treated?

The treatment of erectile dysfunction varies according to the problem. If you have a condition such as diabetes or heart disease, your doctor will first refer you to a specialist for the treatment of these diseases. If you are already aware of these problems and your treatment is progressing, the doctor may prescribe certain medications for your erectile problem. The doses and duration of effect of these medications vary according to the active ingredient they contain. These medications are tried first in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

How is an erectile problem diagnosed?

In many cases a physical examination and answering questions about your medical history will be enough to diagnose the erectile problem. If you have a chronic health condition, or if your doctor suspects that an underlying condition may be involved, you may need further tests or a consultation with a specialist.

An erectile problem can arise for different reasons and, more importantly, it is treatable. Unless steps are taken to solve this problem, the effect of psychological factors also increases, and a vicious circle that is difficult to break sets in.

We carry out detailed investigations on the patients who come to us with erectile dysfunction and identify the factors leading to it. After determining the causes we start our patients' treatment process. For detailed information on the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction you can read our article “Treatment of Erectile Problems”.
